Maggie Desch of East Montpelier, VT and the US Dragon Boat Federation Senior B Women’s 2015 Team recently sent us this report on her training with the paddling adapter:
I started dragon boating three years ago, and I purchased the Paddling Adapter so my partner and I could train throughout the winter. It has been an incredible training device, enabling us to maintain our paddling fitness during those long months off the water and it helped me develop the strength and skill needed to be selected for Team USA. Although Dragonheart has several [of the more expensive and widely publicized] machines on which we can train, I find the Paddling Adapter much more comfortable, and it provides a more realistic feel of being in a dragon boat. Many of my Team USA teammates already have Concept 2 machines, so I look forward to introducing them to the Paddling Adapter. It definitely is an outstanding product.
Maggie further explained how she fine tunes her dragon boat stroke while paddling on the adapter:
The Paddle Adapter is a great training tool for dragon boating, as the free-moving components of the system allow me to properly position the paddle and engage my muscles just as I would in a dragon boat. Additionally, by increasing resistance on the Concept2, I can slow down the paddle movement and focus on fine-tuning each of the components of the dragon boat stroke. Clearly, the Paddle Adapter is a must-have for off-the-water training.
She and her teammates are heading to the Dragon Boat Worlds in Ontario this weekend. Best of luck to Maggie and the whole US DBF Senior Women’s B Team !!!
