Just back from the 2012 ISA SUP World Championships in Miraflores, Peru. I raced in 2 races, the technical race which is a lapped buoy race course in and out of the surf and the marathon race which was just under 11 miles in water that was affected by current and ground swell. I placed 6th in the technical race and 4th (Copper Medal) in the distance race. I was informed that I would be representing the USA in Peru 6 weeks before race day and living in Lake Tahoe and it being winter I was a bit concerned as to how I would be able to get my training done to be ready to race against the best in the world. Having the SUP paddle adaption on my C2 from Paddle Sport Training was essential for my training and I feel really helped me get in shape quick. While the snow was falling or the lake was getting ripped up by the wind I could paddle in the comfort of Watermans Landing and dial in my training by utilizing the stroke rate and watts output on the Concept 2 rower. The tippy stand helped keep my legs moving and I had no problem dealing with the currents and surf while racing thanks to how the tippy stand mimics the board movement on water. Thanks Paddle Sport Training for developing an amazing tool to help my perform at my best against the best!
