What are those inner tubes doing in my Paddling Adapter box?
In your Paddling Adapter box, you’ll find a bag with a spare 11′ cord and two bike inner tubes. These are to keep the seat of your rower secure while you use your Paddling Adapter. We borrowed the idea of using second-hand bike inner tubes from the Hawaiians, who use inner tubes to secure spare paddles to the iakus on their outrigger canoes. We originally used a metal clamping assembly to secure the position of the rower seat while using the paddling adapter.
By wrapping a length of inner tube around the rower monorail in front of and another one behind the rower seat, you accomplish the same thing, while not causing any unnecessary wear on the Concept2 Rower’s stainless steel surface. Simply wrap the inner tube securely around the monorail and tuck in the end. We thank you and our local favorite bike shop, Chuck’s Bikes, for helping us do our little bit to conserve and help save the environment!
